Future Perfect

Simpsons did it!

I've been trying to drum up some ideas for things to offer the bearblog community. I haven't been inspired to write much, but I have been tinkering a little.

Well, every time I start a cool little widget or site add-on, I catch myself thinking "there are probably hundreds of these available already... and done better." Every. Single. Time. And it's true.

But I stopped myself today. I started thinking, well... yeah. The amount of resources out there and the talent of developers being what it is today... of course people can search out quick CSS and HTML upgrades or widgets for their blog. And of course it will be better than what I make.

However, those resources may not be readily discover-able to those seeking them out. Or maybe those cool widgets and add-ons are intended for more complex platforms where you can't just copy and paste something real quick... not intended for the ease and simplicity of the Bearblog community.

So, that's why I've come to the conclusion that even though things have been done before, it doesn't mean we can't do them again. Hell, if even just for the fun of it. Who gives a shit about utility? Just have fun.

Whatever you're working on or doing - keep doing it! Don't be like me and let the thought of not being original enough, or not having the technical skill, or not executing things as well as somebody else creep in and stop you from doing something and releasing it into the world.

With that said, I have some dumb little html/CSS add-on widgets for Bearblog users cooking up in the kitchen and will post them soon.
